ONE lane of the M6 was closed for several hours this morning after a lorry collided with the central reservation.

Lane three of the southbound carriageway of the motorway for closed between Junction 37 and Junction 36 following the incident, which occurred at around 5am.

According to Highways England, two specialist recovery vehicles were sent to the scene to carry out 'protracted' removal of the lorry.

There were minor delays.

There were also delays on the motorway close to Lancaster which affected motorists travelling south at around 12.30pm when the road was closed briefly to allow emergency services to deal with a crash.

All lanes were re-opened shortly after 1pm.
