VOLUNTEER dog cuddling is being offered by Barking Mad South Lakes as an 'antidote' to combating loneliness in modern society.
Walk leader Alison Quigley said the dog sitting company provides an opportunity for people to care for a dog on a temporary basis as well as meet other like-minded pet lovers.
"Here in the South Lakes, I offer training opportunities, friendly get together’s and a free monthly Walking for Health group," she said "The community of Barking Mad host families that mainly consists of active retired people and those who either work from home or have extended periods away from work.
"Hosts experience all the benefits of dog companionship without any of the emotional or financial responsibilities of full-time pet ownership."
They also do group walks on the first Sunday of every month next starting at Kendal Library, all are welcome - with or without a pooch!
