I FIND the Classic Vinyl column very interesting and enjoyable, it is something rather different.
I was overjoyed to read the article on Coles Corner by Richard Rowley (Gazette, January 24).
I worked in Sheffield for a short time many years ago in the sixties and Coles Corner was indeed a meeting place, not just for couples but for everybody, usually as the starting point for a night out in the city.
I had met a young lady and arranged to meet her there a few nights later. I must have been very keen as I dressed up in my mohair suit, had my hair cut and was waiting 20 minutes early with flowers and chocolates for my date.
I waited and waited but she never turned up, but thank you anyway Michael for reminding me of mostly good times in my younger life.
