MEMBERS of the Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club took full advantage of the wintry conditions at the weekend with a ski tour in the fells.

The tour started at Selside, where a covering of snow enabled the nine members to clip on their skis from the start, and climb the fells above Bannisdale.

Conditions were excellent with blue skies, sweeping views and gentle slopes as far as White Howe. The descent to the valley proved more challenging, but the views of the pink stained snowy fells as the sun set provided ample compensation.

The Lakeland Cross Country Ski Club organises a weekly meet until the end of March (when conditions permit), a Scottish weekend away, and roller ski-ing in summer, together with social events throughout the year. For further information visit the website at www.lakelandxcski.org.uk
