LANCASTER City Council has named Kieran Keane as the new chief executive from March 25 until the end of October while the recruitment process for the permanent role takes place.

The council says this move was done to secure continuity in the running of the council, and to ensure that Lancaster can 'thrive and grow.'

Mr Keane, who joined the council in 2017 and is currently assistant chief executive, said he was delighted and proud to take on the role.

He said:"I look forward to working with our existing and future partners to help Lancaster thrive."
