BRETHREN from Silverdale's Masonic lodge gave £1,126 to the village's Bleasdale School for children and young people with profound learning difficulties.
The lodge has long-standing links with the school at Emesgate Lane, and members donated the money so six pupils could attend an outdoor learning course at Bendrigg Lodge, Old Hutton.
The presentation was made to head teacher Kairen Dexter by Carl Horrax, immediate past master of the lodge, and charity steward Alan Thompson.
In a thank you letter to the lodge, Mrs Dexter wrote: "It’s amazing seeing pupils who are wheelchair users accessing the climbing wall and even abseiling and pupils who have little or no self-confidence abseiling up a vertical wall without hesitation.
"Day activities at Bendrigg already form part of our curriculum but a residential at Bendrigg will mean the pupils can really live the experiences."
