VISITORS and locals alike are being urged to vote for Cartmel after it made the shortlist in a national competition.

Famous for its racecourse along with its range of restaurants and specialist shops, Cartmel is in the running for ‘Village of the Year’ category at the prestigious 2019 BBC Countryfile Awards.

It was nominated by readers of the programme's magazine last year then was subsequently chosen for that shortlist by an expert panel of six judges including the programme’s presenter Charlotte Smith and travel writer and explorer Phoebe Smith.

Voting closes on February 17, with the winners expected to be revealed in March, and you can cast your vote via the following link https://countryfile.awardsplatform.com.
