A DOG owner has been warned her pet could be put down if it is not fitted with a muzzle.

Sarah O'Hara appeared in court after an incident in the Lake District in the summer involving her Akita.

South Cumbria Magistrates Court was told several people intervened after the dog attacked another dog causing it injuries.

An order was made requiring the dog to be kept under proper control by being fitted with a muzzle to stop it biting a person. If the order is not adhered to, the dog will be put down.

O'Hara, 54, of Lincombe Road, Knowsley, admitted being in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control. She was ordered to pay £450 compensation.

The incident happened on July 28 on Glebe Road, Bowness. O'Hara was also fined £75, told to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
