STUDENTS from Queen Katherine School in Kendal have bailed on their lessons to protest against climate change today.

Several sixth form students from QKS did not attend school today but instead have gone to Manchester to join a mass demonstration with other pupils and university students against Climate change.

Other pupils from QKS also joined in on the strike in demanding the Government to declare a climate emergency and paraded the streets of Kendal in protest.

The Westmorland Gazette:

Jonah Maiden, a year 10 pupil from the Kendal school said it was important for them to go on strike today to help raise awareness about today.

"Few people have stopped to ask us what we are doing," he said. "We are protesting because the government is not listening and the adults don't seem to be bothered about it- it's up to us now."

Several pupils from Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale have also joined in the nationwide strike and have gone to Lancaster to take part in the mass demonstration there.
