ON TUESDAY, February 5, I inadvertently lost my credit card from my wallet in the Westmorland Shopping Centre car park when pulling out the parking ticket which had been tucked behind it.

I was totally unaware of the loss until I listened to a telephone message later that evening, which was from the Halifax, to tell me that a man had handed it in.

He did not leave a name but just said where he had found it.

I would very much like to thank the man for his honesty and for taking the trouble to walk down to the Halifax to hand it in.

The consequences of it getting into less honest hands don't bear thinking about, especially for an elderly person like myself.
