A FRESH coat of paint for Silverdale's Millennium clock has been postponed until after this year's parish council elections.

At their recent meeting, Silverdale parish councillors agreed a quote of £2,435 plus VAT to prepare and paint the clock was "unjustifiable at the current time".

Meanwhile, Cllr Keith Palmer said recent attempts to resurface the road opposite the clock had been "unsuccessful" . The road's "very poor state" is to be reported to highways officers at Lancashire County Council.

Parish councillors agreed to refurbish seven benches in the most exposed locations, using recycled plastic lumber at a cost of £826.66.

They also heard the supply of 24,000 dog waste bags had cost £696 - £100 more this year than last year.

Councillors expressed concerns about the "excessive amount".

However, Cllr Terry Bond said it was still "a cost-effective measure" as the bags had "significantly reduced dog waste" in Silverdale.
