HIGHLY rated South African batsman Wes Marshall has been signed up as Kendal Cricket Club as their professional for the 2019 Northern Premier League season.

The 25-year-old right hander has had a run-filled season playing first class cricket for Easterns in his home country, scoring 616 runs including an unbeaten double century.

And Marshall has plenty of experience of English conditions having played four previous summers as a club professional in this country, during which time he has scored close to 4,000 runs.

Kendal skipper Chris Miller said he was delighted to have Marshall on board as the club looks to make an impact in their return to the NPL following last season's successful promotion campaign.

"We have been practising in the indoor nets at Sedbergh School since before the turn of the year and it has gone really well," he said.

"We are looking forward to the new season and can't wait to get started."

Kendal open their league campaign with a trip to Leyland on Saturday, April 20.
