A SCHOOL is banning its students from wearing fake tan after they return following the half term break.

A text has gone out to parents who have children at Ulverston Victoria High School saying pupils would be banned from wearing fake tan when they arrived back on February 25.

The school has more than 1,300 pupils and caters for ages 11-18.

The text said: “We would like to advise you that from Monday 25th February, fake tan worn by students will no longer be acceptable.

“Wearing it will be considered an infringement of school uniform policy.

“We would be grateful if you could support us in this and reinforce it with your children.”

The school appointed a new head teacher, Matthew Hardwick, in December.

David Webster, the mayor of Ulverston, said: “If make-up is banned then this ban would be wholly in line with that.

“There have been a lot of changes at the school with a new head teacher. He will be putting his own policies in place along with the governors.”

No-one was available to comment at UVHS when contacted by the Gazette.
