Kendal Towns troubles continued after they lost 3-1 at Colne, the result which leaves Kendal four points adrift from safety saw an otherwise positive display against one of the contenders for promotion.

First half goals by Brad Lynch and former Kendal Town player Oliver Wood saw the hosts go 2-0 up at the break.

Daniel Keenan pulled a goal back for Kendal in the second half however Mamadoui Dabis goal saw Colne secure the win while Kendal crashed to defeat.

Colne began the game brightly with a series of promising attacks and Matthew Morgan shot wide from a good opening after only three minutes before Billy Priestley’s header flew just past the post from Marcus Poscha’s high cross.

The hosts should have scored soon after when Morgan’s cross was headed down by Oliver Wood before Alex Curran blasted his shot wide of goal.

Colne continued to dictate play with Wood firing wide after the former Kendal Town talisman latched onto a low cross by Brad Lync

Kendal began to threaten after Jordan Tucker saw his shot blocked in the Colne penalty area while Kyle Delves fired high over the bar from another opening.

But Colne continued to stretch Kendal’s defence and Lynch crashed a volley against the post after 22 minutes from Curran’s cross before Patel’s goal bound shot was cleared from the area by a Kendal defender.

Colne made the breakthrough after 28 minutes when Curran’s run released Lynch who cut into the area before firing his deflected shot past the Kendal keeper

Five minutes before half time, Colne doubled their lead when Priestley’s high cross from the bye line was headed home at the far post by Wood with the keeper stranded at the near post.

In the second half Kendal staged a fight back and tested the Colne defence with some dangerous attacks. Ryan Moore fired just over the crossbar after 52 minutes and Waqas Azam made a vital clearance from the Colne goalmouth shortly after.

At the other end, Morgan saw his shot turned over the bar by Kendal keeper Joao Mendes but as Kendal continued to look for a goal Colne keeper Hakan Burton needed to make a good save at his near post from a close range shot by Delves.

And after 65 minutes, Kendal reduced the deficit when Colne lost the ball in midfield before Daniel Keenan raced away and scored with a low shot past Burton.

Colne looked to restore their two goal advantage but struggled to find a way through the visitors defence while some long range shooting was off target. However after 77 minutes, Djabi sealed the points for the hosts after following up a cross from Morgan, and despite Kendal’s best efforts they ran out of time as they crashed to defeat,

Kendal host Market Drayton Town on Saturday before travelling to play bottom of the table Skelmersdale United on Tuesday Night.
