THE Cumbria Life Home & Garden Show has quickly established itself as the finest Northern Home and Garden show of the year.

The weekend starting tomorrow (Friday, 9am-5pm), Saturday and Sunday (9am-4pm) will see talks and demonstrations from leading regional experts. The show takes place at Rheged Visitor Centre, Penrith.

For those who want to get more in depth knowledge or hands-on experience, a selection of the north’s best makers and designers are running a series of 15 different masterclasses, which are ticketed separately.

The show celebrates design, craftsmanship and innovation from across the North of England and Southern Scotland.

THE UK's number one Little Mix tribute act Little Fix is stopping off at The Platform, Morecambe, on Saturday (March 16, 2pm). The group were finalists in BBC One's Even Better Than the Real Thing, National Tribute Music Awards. The girls have secured a number of arena shows during their tour of the UK, bringing a high energy show that replicates the stage presence and vocal abilities of the original group. DUBBED as 'Simply the best traditional musicians you are likely to hear' Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain are in concert at the Coronation Hall, Ulverston, tomorrow (Friday, 8pm). Phil, who plays the accordion and Aly the fiddle, have toured and recorded together since 1988. They are both known as consummate musicians, arrangers, producers and broadcasters in their own right. Together they possibly produce the finest and purest of Scots music combined with a deep knowledge and understanding of their traditions gained from long and extensive careers.

THE second weekend of March sees Penrith 'go orange', as shops in the town dress to reflect the event taking place for the 14th year running at the historical Dalemain Mansion. The World's Original Marmalade Festival makes a welcome return on Saturday (March 16. 10am). The Dalemain festival is supported by Penrith Chamber of Trade and Commerce, which will be providing classic coaches to take visitors between Penrith and Dalemain, as well as organising lots of exciting orange windows and special offers in the town. There'll be thousands of Homemade Marmalades on show to taste and buy, as well as a selection of the finest stalls, marmalade-mad entertainment including juggling and the Marma-lympics, singers, lectures and much more.
