COMPETITORS from the Witherslack Hall Equestrian Centre Pony Club are heading to the National Championships after a successful weekend at the Area 4 NFU Mututal National Quiz.
Eighteen members, aged between five and 21, travelled to the Isle of Man to compete in the Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care competition, as well as the National Quiz.
It was the first time Witherslack entered the event, which was held on February 16 and 17, and the teams were delighted with their results, coming in fifth place in both the Mini Section and the Junior Section in the first contest.
The members also competed in the National Quiz. There were 10 rounds which tested the teams knowledge on horse-related topics such as feeding, poisonous plants and equine behaviour. Witherslack were rewarded with fifth, second and first place, qualifying the winning team for the National championships. The championships will be held in April at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre.
