AFTER seeming a lone voice, it was gratifying to read the two support letters in The Westmorland Gazette regarding damage to Crooklands bridge (February 28), and also pay tribute to Cllr Roger Bingham and Tim Farron MP for support throughout.
Continued use of this bridge will need extensive widening with safe pedestrian access, plus a better approach, rather than the acute angle on the west side, which will be extremely costly.
Much better for County Highways, the Canal & River Trust and Highways England to commence talks to build a junction on the A590 - rather than, with others, keep quiet and hope all will be well.
