I WOULD like to say a big thank you to the police and ambulance personnel who attended an incident in Grange-over-Sands on February 16 when my friend was taken ill.

It was a serious situation and so I rang the police and within a very short time a PC Roy Williams was on the scene and immediately took control in a most sympathetic and professional manner.

I must say P.C. Williams is a credit to the force. He called for assistance from police colleagues and the ambulance service and they, too, arrived very quickly.

The whole incident was quite traumatic and was handled with a great deal of patience and sensitivity.

There is so much criticism of our police and ambulance services at present but I think they are wonderful.
