A TREAT is in store for savoury snack lovers as pies take centre stage for British Pie Week.

Shoppers at Booths in Ulverston, Windermere, Kendal, Milnthorpe and Carnforth, will be able to try the Northern delicacy pie barm for £2 — including sauce and gravy.

Sunil Chapanery, buying manager at Booths said: “Pies are something of a way of life in the North.

"Everybody has their favourite and Booths has something for everybody.

"Introducing the Pie Barm to our hot counters is a little bit of fun and seemed a fitting way to celebrate British Pie Week.”

British Pie Week takes place every year on the first full week of March and celebrates the classic British traditions.

Pies are aplenty at Booths this week with specials in both the cafe and hot cabinets.

Thirty types of pie are on offer at Booths, ranging from classics such as chicken and ham to the more unusual coconut and paneer.

The classic pie barm would be a meat and potato pie but customers will be able to choose a cheese and onion pie or a butter pie for the vegetarian alternative.
