THE owner of a bronze statue is offering a £10,000 reward for its safe return after it was stolen last month.

The statue, which is around six feet in height, was taken some time between February 11 and February 25 from a holiday home in the Lyth Valley, near Kendal. The owner, who asked to remain anonymous, said they were ‘distraught’ after learning of the theft.

“I was really shocked and saddened to hear she had been taken,” the owner said. “She means a lot to us and we just want her back.”

The bronze statue, called La Source, was created by French sculptor Michelle Chiecchio and is one of eight. The owner is offering £10,000 as a reward for its safe return back home.

“She was part of the landscape,” they added. “The statue just looked perfect where it was.” Anyone who may have information on the statue’s whereabouts is asked to contact the police on 101.
