Flood alerts have been issued for Cumbria as heavy rain continues to fall in the county.

They include:

Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster:

The Environment SAgency (EA) says: "Lake levels remain high at the Far Sawrey gauge as a result of recent rainfall.

"indermere lake levels and surrounding tributaries are beginning to rise again from the rain that started in the early hours of this morning.

"Low-lying areas along the shores of Windermere will continue to be affected. Currently, we are expecting the rain to continue into the afternoon with some heavy showers in some places. This is followed by lighter showers during the afternoon that could fall as sleet or snow in some areas, causing water levels in the area to rise again.

"We are closely monitoring the situation but we do not expect to reach flood warning levels.

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses."

Rivers Kent and Bela:

The EA says: "The Rivers in the South Lakes including Rivers Gowan at Staveley, River Mint, River Kent and River Bela and surrounding tributaries are beginning to rise again due to the rain that started in the early hours of this morning. Low lying areas along the rivers will be affected. Currently, we are expecting the rain to continue into the afternoon with some heavy showers in places. This is followed by lighter showers into the evening."

Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck:

The EA says: "Lake levels remain high at the Low Nibthwaite gauge as a result of recent rainfall. Coniston levels and surrounding tributaries are beginning to rise again due to rainfall in the early hours of this morning. Low0lying areas along the shores of Coniston will continue to be affected. Currently, we are expecting the rain to continue into the afternoon of 16/03/19 with some heavy showers in some places. This is followed by lighter showers during the afternoon that could fall as sleet or snow in some areas, causing water levels in the area to rise again.

At Keswick campsite there is a flood warning in place.

The Environment Agency says: "Lake levels remain high at the Lodore gauge, and the Derwentwater level is beginning to rise again because of rain that started in the early hours of this morning.

"Low-lying areas along the shores of Derwentwater and the front of the Keswick Camping and Caravan Club Site will continue to be affected. Currently, we are expecting some heavy rain showers during Saturday morning followed by lighter showers in the afternoon that could fall as sleet or snow and cause lake levels to rise again."
