WHO likes a Beer Festival? The first festival was put on in 2007 to showcase the revolution in British brewing. There has never been a better time for British beers ... more breweries, more beer styles, more innovation, more flavours, more crazy and exciting ideas. Many of the pioneers of the new wave of craft brewing are here in the North of Britain. As well as great beer, food will be served all day, live music and plenty of fun. JASPER Carrott's Stand Up & Rock is back; this time gracing the Westmorland Hall at Kendal Leisure Centre on Saturday, March 23 (7.30pm). Featuring, of course, the legendary Jasper Carrott with a brand new stand-up show before introducing his musical compatriots that have been ‘rockin’ audiences all over the world. Bev Bevan, as well as being Jasper’s mate has rock star credentials that most dream of - being the founding member of The Move and ELO. Joining them are Geoff Turton from the Rockin Berries and Suzi Woo. So do not miss this unique show that gives the opportunity to see and hear great artistes belt out a night of fantastic songs and Jasper back where he belongs…making us laugh.

FOLLOW the adventures of The Thief, The Fox & The Phoenix in a captivating folk tale. A mischievous thief goes on a quest with a furry fox friend to find the enchanted phoenix. Told through a fusion of aerial circus, dance, live singing and storytelling, this family-friendly show will fill young ones with wonder, to inevitably discover the true meaning of friendship. Two performances on Saturday (March 23) at noon & 3pm, at Keswick's Theatre by the Lake.

AS BRITAIN'S planned exit from the European Union approaches, the Dukes Young Company presents Empire To Exit on Wednesday and Thursday (March 27 & 28, 7.30pm). In an evening of classic scenes and characters from some of the most iconic British playwrights, we can watch the changing of the times as the actors explore the different faces of theatre, politics and society in the two centuries between the birth of Queen Victoria in 1819 and Britain's planned exit from the EU. Also, the casts own response to the current climate in a devised finale created especially for the show.

THE Wheelbase Spring Classic (Cycle Sportive) starts (9am) and finishes (2pm) at Mill Yard, Staveley, near Kendal, on Sunday (March 24). The family ride which takes a route to Burneside through Bowston and back to Staveley. There are limited places of just 30.

There are two routes to choose from: One that travels through scenic roads with beautiful views of the Howgills, Dent and Barbon.

The timed hill climb of the day goes up to Shacklabank. A tricky climb which will see the fastest male or female crowned king and queen of the mountain, with a jersey from Wheelbase.

The long run is supported with a good station at Sedbergh’s People’s Hall, where riders get a chance to refuel and stock up for the road ahead.
