A FAMILY has been left traumatised after some of their beloved pet geese were killed in a brutal attack.

Gary Noble, 44, from Brampton, was shocked to find his Toulouse geese, named Jack and Vera, missing from his allotment.

Mr Noble reported the incident to the police thinking they could have been stolen from the site in Greenhill Road.

The devastated owner said: “I went up on Saturday morning and expected to see Jack and Vera, but the wire fence had been torn down.

“I was thinking where are they? My first thought was that they had been pinched. That’s when I saw my other goose, Florence, with a broken wing.

“I tried to help her but she died a little while later.”

Worried about what could have happened to the birds, Haylee Goodison, 28, Gary’s step-daughter, put a picture on social media in the hope of finding them.

Later in the day Mr Noble received a phone call saying some dead birds had been spotted by a dog walker.

Upon inspection the birds were identified as Jack and Vera. They had been dumped close to the allotment.

The family pets were found with multiple injuries to their bodies.

Mr Noble added: “Why would you do that to someone’s pets? What’s next, a dog? There are horses in the next field, are they going to do it to them?”

This isn’t the first time the family has been targeted. Last year, one of their geese - named Peanut - was killed at the allotment.

Haylee said: “They were my mum’s pets, they used to follow her round. I remember when we got them, it was so exciting and after eight years they become part of the family.

“My mum is traumatised.”

The pets were territorial and didn’t like strangers, Mr Noble said.

He added: “They would have been attacking whoever did this, trying to protect their families because they’re breeding. If they’re getting away with this now, where will it end?”
