THREE Lake District girls had a chance to shape the future of Girlguiding.
Bridget MacFarlane and Cecilia Kelly, both aged 11, and Jess Brown, aged 10, from Hawkshead Guides, shared their thoughts in strategy discussions for the 500,000-strong organisation.
The friends said they liked the fact all Girlguiding members make a promise and live by it, and they wanted that to be of importance for future generations of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers.
Bridget, Cecilia and Jess said online clubs might be very well, but they prized the opportunity to have fun with others, doing a wide range of activities open to all.
Sue Gudgeon, county commissioner for Cumbria South accompanied the girls to Preston to talk about the new five-year-plan from 2020.
She said Girlguiding listened to young people's views, adding: "It's embedded in our values to give girls a choice and to change as the needs of girls and young women change."
