VOLUNTEERS, residents and employees were welcomed by HRH the Prince of Wales on his visit to the Lake District.
On a glorious spring day, Prince Charles toured the Windermere Jetty Museum before visiting Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team and finishing the day at the Hawkshead Relish Company.
Pupils from several schools carried Union Jacks and sang a special Lake District folk song for the Prince when he came to visit the Windermere Jetty Museum.
During the museum tour, situated ashore England’s largest lake, Prince Charles was given a blast from the past after being reunited with Branksome. The Prince said the boat held special memories for him.
Following his trip to the Jetty Museum, the Prince of Wales then moved on to Ambleside where he was given a tour and learned the various procedures Mountain Rescue volunteers go through before, during and after an incident had occurred.
Before unveiling the plaque His Royal Highness said that he was in full admiration of all the work, all the different call outs, the volunteers had to deal with in this part of the world and admired their dedication to the service.
He finished the day with a tour of the Hawkshead Relish Company, Hawkshead, which is celebrating its 20th year.
