A BRIGHT pink electric boat is set to be launched onto Windermere as part of a charity raising scheme.
The pink vessel, which will be available for hire from Windermere Quays Electric Boat Hire, will help raise funds through their match-funding initiative.
The un-named boat holds up to ten people and will cost an extra £5 per hour taking the total cost to £100 per hour.
Windermere Quays have pledged to match the extra £5 so that for each hour the boat is hired £10 will go to Cancer Research UK.
Managing Director Grahame Armer said: “We are extremely excited about seeing our ‘Pink Lady’ take to the Lake this month and we expect this will raise some thousands of pounds each year.
"This is our way of not only bringing something unique to Windermere but importantly of giving back to the wider community.”
The special pink boat is one of a new fleet of 8 completely luxury electric craft that the company are introducing to the water.
The celebratory launch, where MP Tim Farron will cut the ribbon, will take place from their Bowness-on-Windermere jetties on Glebe Road on April 27 at 1pm.
Those interested in hiring the boat should contact the company directly on 015394 42121 or www.windermere-boat-hire.co.uk
