BOLTON-le-Sands Parish Council chairman Keith Budden is to stand as a Conservative candidate in the Lancaster City Council elections on May 2.

He has been selected to succeed Cllr Sylvia Rogerson, who is retiring from the Bolton and Slyne ward.

Cllr Budden is a former long-serving independent councillor. The city council made him an honorary alderman to mark his years of service, which saw him don the chains of office as mayor of Lancaster.

The ward comprising Bolton-le-Sands and Slyne-with-Hest currently has three Tory city councillors - John Wild, Malcolm Thomas and Sylvia Rogerson.
