MANAGER James Heap has toasted The Italian Cafe, the town's newest venue, on Stramongate.

Serving coffees, prosecco and cocktails, its opening today follows last week's "quiet" launch of Italian restaurant Little Italy next door.

James said Little Italy's first few days had been "phenomenal", with tables fully booked last Friday, Saturday and Sunday as word got round the venue was up and running. The restaurant was so busy, said James, the team had to post a Facebook message saying it could not accept any more bookings.

Little Italy is open all day from noon to 9.30pm. A lunch menu of smaller portions for £5 is served from noon to 5pm, while the happy hour menu of full-size portions for £5 runs from 5pm to 6.30pm.

The Italian Cafe opens from 8am and its drinks menu includes espresso, cappuccino, prosecco, craft beers, and five cocktails for £5 each.
