A COUPLE happily tied the knot with a festival themed wedding.

School teacher Amy Walduck, 33, and roofing business owner Chris Walduck, 37, got wed among their closest family and friends.

The Ulverston couple first met on New Years Eve in 2008.

Chris was first to approach Amy asking to have a drink with him.

Amy said: “We then became friends for a while before becoming a couple some time later.”

One of the things that brought the couple together was Chris’ personality.

Amy said: “He is very caring and laid-back with a great sense of humor - always laughing and smiling.”

Chris then proposed at Linthwaite House Hotel in Bowness in January 2016.

Amy described the proposal as ‘very romantic’ as he popped the question a hot tub with snow falling all around them on a beautiful winters day.

The proposal also took Amy completely by surprise.

The couple then decided to put wedding plans on hold as their beautiful daughter Elsie was born in July 2016.

The couple wanted to wait until Elsie was a little older before they tied the knot.

The arrival of Elsie was a testing time for the couple as she was in the Special Care Baby and Neonatal Unit for 12 days, but Elsie brought the couple even closer together and Amy said that after the initial shock their time together was ‘amazing.’

Amy also described how amazing a dad Chris is and how well they work together as a team.

The couple got married at Park House Barn in Milnthorpe.

Both the ceremony and reception were held at the venue.

The couple were also joined by 70 guests during the day and 200 guests for the evening celebrations.

For the wedding the couple chose a festival theme as Amy said: “We enjoy going to festivals as a couple and wanted it to feel a laid-back party atmosphere.”

Amy said everything ran on the day 'ran perfectly'.

The weather was also great and just how the couple wanted it.

Amy said: “We had the Lakes Wedding Magicians whilst people were relaxing after the meal who did a great job to entertain the crowd. We also had and a local drumming band called The Deatbeats who were amazing and really got the party started and finally a Ibiza style DJ and Sax player to end the night.

“It was a perfect day and night for us and just wish we could relive it again.”

The couple then enjoyed two honeymoons - one in Ibiza for a long weekend without Elsie and then another in Crete with Elsie for a week.

The couple would like to thank everyone who attended on the day and to everyone who has supported them.

The couple would like to thank everyone who attended and made their day so special. Amy also said: “We would like to thank both sets of parents and step-parents and in particular the bridesmaids Samantha, Fiona, Sarah and Emily and the best man Ben for all their support.”

The couple would also like to thank their photographer Clare Gelderd.
