A famous teddy bear who was aboard Donald Campbell's record-breaking hydrofoil in 1967 is being brought back to life.

Sadly Campbell lost his life in the run across Lake Coniston in the Lake District, for which he broke the water speed record. His bear, Mr Whoppit, was one of the only items to be recovered from the Bluebird K7.

Teddy bear manufacturer Merrythought, based in Ironbridge, Shropshire, was tasked with reviving him exclusively for Danbury Mint.

Sarah Holmes, director of Merrythought, said: "The story of Donald Campbell is that of tragedy, but we at Merrythought are so proud to be reviving this moment in history and celebrating Campbell's record-breaking achievements...

"We put a great deal of care and attention into each teddy bear we create, so they can be enjoyed across the generations for years to come."

Mr Whoppit is available for £149 at www.danburymint.co.uk.
