COUNT your blessings, ye complainers about the fares-rise on the Windermere Ferry (Letters, April 18).
In 1863 it rose from 4d to 6d (not '6p' as your gremlin made it, April 18 - 6p is in decimal, only came in 1971).
1d in 1863 would be at least £1 now, possibly more.
'Time to return to town centre living?' (April 18). Yes. Penrith has this already.
