A KENDAL triathlete who will be riding in The Fred Whitton challenge this Sunday is raising money for two local charities.

Kath Finn, a member at the Kendal Tri Club, has acted as an aide for partially sighted athletes for four years.

She is doing the 112-mile sportive for Vision of Adventure, a Lake District charity which provides outdoor activities for blind and visually impaired adults and Wheels for All, a nationally recognised inclusive cycling programme for children and adults with disabilities.

Mrs Finn will also be competing in the Para National Championships this year as an aide with her sports partner Andrea Logan, a partially sighted athlete.

Through Vision of Adventure she said she hoped to offer more opportunities by appealing for more guides.

The Fred Whitton challenge, is the toughest day ride in the UK and ranked alongside European events such as the Marmotte in terms of difficulty and is run in honour of Fred Whitton, who died in 1998, aged 50.
