A MAN who was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer has used football as an opportunity to raise awareness behind the disease.

David Baines, also known as Baino, completed 50 years of playing local football as he made an appearance for Sedbergh Wanderers Reserves over the weekend.

Mrs Baines, aged 66, scored an early penalty in the match against Langwathby United which led to a roar of applause and cheers from the crowd.

The game was a typical end of season tussle and the final score was 3-3.

Mr Baines would like to thank the team for giving him the opportunity to leave the stage at Sedbergh the same way he started 50 years ago.
