A PARTNERSHIP involving Heron Hill Primary School will see two teachers from Kenya visit Kendal next month.

Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning is an education programme run in more than 30 countries by The British Council, in conjunction with the Department for International Development.

It works with schools around the globe to help young people develop the knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution to their world.

Students at Heron Hill Primary School are working with their counterparts at Open Arms Academy in Kenya (pictured) on a project entitled ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’, helping them develop awareness of entrepreneurship and social enterprise.

Andy Blackman, a governor at both Heron Hill and Open Arms, said: “This partnership will build on Open Arms Academy’s existing link with St Thomas’ School in Kendal which has seen a teacher from St Thomas’ visiting the academy on four previous occasions.”
