COASTGUARDS along with an Army bomb disposal team were called to a beach between Drigg and Seascale on Monday.

Millom coastguard rescue team assisted Whitehaven coastguard and an Army bomb squad, from The Royal Logistics Corp, following a report of a suspicious item on the beach, northwest of Millom.

The item was confirmed as ordnance and was blown up by the bomb disposal unit.

Millom coastguard has asked that if the public sees any suspicious beach items then they should report them by dialling 999 and asking for the coastguard.
