AFTER 2018's super successful The Railway Children and Railway Roundabout, Furness Youth Theatre returns to stage with a highly adventurous production featuring young actor musicians.

This time around, the talented performers put on writer Elisabeth Greaves' new musical Timecopter at The Forum, Barrow, from Thursday until Saturday, May 23-25.

The time travelling musical quest tells of Miss' granddad’s wild invention that takes her and her class back to the Dark Ages; there they help rescue a dragon from the knights of Camelot. When they try to get home, they travel to the future, where their different skills help save the whole world. A lonely robot offers to send them home, although Miss has left her heart in Camelot.

Also musical director and choreographer, Elisabeth is a language teacher, science fiction and historical author, and piano and singing tutor. She runs children’s drama and workshops. Her recent productions include Calamity Jane, Mary Watson and the White Monk Murder, The Frosty Pantomime, and The Pirates of Penzance which played at Ulverston Dickensian Festival. She helped found the excellent ACT, which became Furness Youth Theatre, as a teenager, arranging and directing music for The Hobbit in 1991.

She has been the piano accompanist for FYT since her children joined, as well as accompanying Ulverston Amateur Operatic Society for the past 15 years. With a masters degree in history, she is often seen in Norman or Victorian costume, at living history demonstrations with Iron Shepherds Living History.

Timecopter director Chris Loveless trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His productions have played in London’s West End, the regions, and New York, with several named critics’ choice by Time Out and the Evening Standard. Locally, Chris has been in the director's chair for many productions for both Furness Youth Theatre and its predecessor ACT youth theatre.

Performances start at 7pm; the Saturday, 6pm.
