FOLLOWING reports of a seal pup in distress the coastguard team from Millom were called out.
Close to 9pm last night the team attended Silecroft Beach following reports of a seal pup in distress. Upon arrival they discovered a Marine Mammal Medic who was already attending.
A spokesperson from Millom Coastguard said: “Following advice from the RSPCA it was decided to not disturb the pup any further and leave it on scene to make its own way back to the incoming tide.
“If you are in the area and it is still around please keep your dog away and give it a wide berth.
“Seals bite, they may look cuddly, but it was a feisty little thing.”
