A TRY Sailing Day at Arnside last Saturday attracted more than 60 people.
It is part of a national promotion by the Royal Yachting Association with sailing clubs up and down the country giving people the chance to try out sailing in May
“We had a great day taking people out sailing on the estuary," said Alasdair Simpson, a member of Arnside Sailing Club. "Conditions were ideal with light winds and no rain, despite a poor weather forecast which promised drizzle and no wind.”
The club has doubled its membership in the past four years and is RYA North West Club of the Year.
The club runs sailing courses for adults, ladies and children. New this year are midweek sessions with an instructor for those free during the week.
“With beautiful surroundings when the tide is in, there are few better places to sail than Arnside," said Mr Simpson.
