THE first book ever written by Alfred Wainwright is to be republished.
A Pennine Journey takes the form of a travelogue recalling Wainwright’s 1938 walk from Settle to Hadrian’s Wall and back, during which he drew for the first time the landscape sketches which were to become a trademark feature of his writing, and these sketches are included in the book.
It lay undiscovered for many years and was eventually published in 1986, and is now to return to print thanks to The Wainwright Society.
The book can be purchased via the website www.wainwright.org.uk
