MAJOR plans for a new care home in Carnforth met with approval.
The 118-bed home for elderly people is planned for farmland north-east of the Ex-Servicemen's Club, at Scotland Road, by applicant Simon Tomlinson.
Lancaster City Council planners heard evidence of the need for the three-storey home. They agreed its "significant benefits" in caring for older people could be "weighed against" the impact on the landscape.
Fourteen members of the planning regulatory committee voted in favour, and one against.
