A GROUP of dads munched their way through a pile of supersized Yorkshire puddings for a Father's Day challenge in Grasmere.

Five men took part in the event at Tweedies Bar & Lodge, finishing almost 25 puds in just ten minutes.

A guest from Newcastle won out with his total of six, and had even begun a seventh.

Aimee Jones, of Tweedies, said: "The UK's competitive eating scene is on the rise, so we thought it would be fun to get some friendly competition going for the crowds on Father's Day.

“Sunday lunch is one of our specialities and our epic Yorkshire puddings are always a big talking point, so it was the perfect challenge for some would-be super eaters.

"Our winner, Warren, devoured the most in the ten-minute time limit and it was a really great atmosphere.

“We had five competitors this time round, but it was a big success and we’d certainly like to try and make it a Father’s Day tradition for the future!”
