JOHN MacMillan has been described as ‘an incredible person’ who ‘would do anything for his family’.
The 70-year-old taxi driver was known for his love of sport including golf, darts and snooker.
His death has been described as a 'devastating' blow to everyone who knew him.
Known for his caring nature, the pensioner was a keen golfer and during his spare time he would tee off at Barrow and Walney courses.
One family member of Mr MacMillan said: “John loved his son and would do anything for his family.
“He was an incredible person, who was full of life and he loved his golf - you wouldn’t know he was 70.

“I know John was visited by his son over Father’s Day.
“As a family we’re all in bits.”
Further heartfelt tributes were paid by friends and colleagues including Bob Mullen, secretary of Furness Taxi Trade Association.
He said: “John was very well respected in our line of work.
“He’s been part of Barrow’s taxi trade for more than 30 years.”
Mr Mullen described Mr MacMillan as a gentleman and said the association was in shock after hearing about his death.
“He was very knowledgeable about the area,” added Mr Mullen.
“This truly is a devastating loss to the Barrow taxi trade and the wider community.”
A spokesman from Walney Golf Club said: “Although John has not been a member of our club for a few years now, he was always a friendly man.
“Many people who knew John will have fond memories of him.”
