BUTTERMERE has been voted the top place for a picnic in a new poll.
Flora carried out research into the best picnic areas in the UK and the Lake District beauty spot came out top with nine per cent of the vote.
Saint Herbert’s Island in Derwentwater, Keswick, also came in the top 20.
The survey says that 60 per cent of Brits are now making a conscious effort to upgrade their picnic with 24 per cent of picnickers now make their own quiche, and 21 per cent will even bake a honey coated ham to impress fellow diners.
