A MAN driving with a child on board has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a two-car collision caused his vehicle to overturn.

Police were contacted at 11.10pm on Saturday, June 22, to reports of a  collision involving a blue Citroen C2 and a black Vauxhall Corsa in Kirkgate, Settle.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “The collision had resulted in the Corsa being overturned in the road.

“The driver - a 35-year-old man from Settle - and a four-year-old child passenger were reported as initially trapped in the vehicle but had got out of the car by the time police had arrived and were being treated by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at the scene.

“Both the man and the child were taken to Airedale General Hospital, at Steeton.

“The driver of the Corsa was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while the alcohol level was above the limit.

“He has been released under investigation.”
