THE map that was used at mission control during Paul Tierney’s record breaking run in the Lake District is to be auctioned off for charity.

The special map, printed for the occasion by Harvey Map Services, highlights the route Mr Tierney took to complete the 214 Wainwrights in the quickest time possible in bright red.

It has been signed by the Ambleside runner who set the record in a time of six days, six hours and five minutes.

The map was used throughout the challenge at the Ambleside HQ from where Mr Tierney was monitored.

Mr Tierney has already managed to raise £30,000 for the charity MIND, in memory of his friend and athlete Chris Stirling.

The auction is being organised by Jonathan Kaye at the Cedar Manor Hotel in Windermere, one of the sponsors of the attempt.

The online auction will take place on August 5 and 6, hosted and lived streamed by 1818 auctioneers.
