A TRIO of South Cumbrian breweries have been nominated for the title of best in Britain in CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain competition next month.
Coniston Brewing Company, a former Champion Beer of Britain winner that took home gold in 2012 and 1998, will compete alongside first time entrant the South Lakes Brewing Company of Ulverston and near neighbours the Ulverston Brewing Company, which is based in an old indoor cattle market dating back to 1875.
Theose three will joined 68 other breweries from across the country for the final round of judging and the champion will be named at the Great British Beer Festival on August 6 at London's Olympia.
“It is an incredibly exciting time for British brewers, and nowhere is this better reflected than in the Champion Beer of Britain competition, one of the most prestigious titles within the beer industry," said Champion Beer of Britain coordinator Nick Boley.
"It's anyone’s guess who will win the ultimate title this year.”
