A NUMBER of events are being held in Cumbria as part of this year’s Big Butterfly Count.
People can also take part in the count, which runs till August 11, themselves, by finding a sunny spot anywhere in the UK, recording the butterflies they see across a 15 minute period, then submitting these sightings to www.bigbutterflycount.org.uk.
According to the charity Butterfly Conservation, every 10 years or so the UK receives a huge influx of Painted Ladies, with millions of the butterflies arriving on our shores.
