A TEENAGER has admitted a one-punch attack on a man which occurred late at night outside a South Lakeland pub.

Robert Cannon Dugdale, 19, heard a judge say that the "likelihood" is that he will receive a prison sentence following his criminal conduct on December 21 last year. This occurred outside the Snooty Fox in central Kirkby Lonsdale.

Dugdale pleaded guilty at Carlisle Crown Court this morning to unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon James Hadwin. Dugdale's one-punch attack was partially captured on CCTV footage.

Mr Recorder Turner agreed to a request from the teenager's barrister, Richard Vardon, that the case be adjourned.

The court heard Dugdale had submitted a basis for his guilty plea which will be considered by the prosecution in due course.

Recorder Turner told Mr Vardon: "I take the view that on my assessment of the papers the custodial threshold is, in fact, passed. Your client should be under no illusions."

He added: "The likelihood is that a custodial sentence will be passed for this offence."

Dugdale, of Bentham Moor Road, Burton in Lonsdale, is due to be sentenced at the crown court on September 27.

Until then he was granted bail on condition that he does not contact Mr Hadwin in any way, or enter the Snooty Fox pub.
