A man who was airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the A591 is in a serious but stable condition, police say.
Officers were called to the crash, which involved two cars between Grasmere and Keswick by Thirlmere at 11.40am on Monday.
In an update, a spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "The incident involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a Ssangyong Korando.
"The driver of the Corsa, a 47-year-old from Maryport, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital in Newcastle by Air Ambulance.
"His injuries are described as serious but stable.
"The driver of the Ssangyong, a 50-year-old man from Somerset, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary with minor injuries.
"A 47-year-old female passenger was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary with serious injuries but is described as stable."
The road was closed for more than six hours to allow for accident investigation work to be carried out by police.
