AMBLESIDE Rotary Club held its ever popular Quiz Kids schools’ competition in which the winners choose which charity they would like to donate their cash prize.
This year involved two teams of four from each of four local primary schools, winners of the preliminary rounds from Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Langdale CE Primary schools. The final 8 teams battled it out to a packed Ambleside parish centre, with Grasmere as the eventual winners, presented with a £500 cheque which they donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. Runners up were Ambleside ( £400 to the Kinamba Community Project in Africa), followed by Langdale (£300 for Guide Dogs) and Hawkshead-Esthwaite Primary (£200 to the Noah Initiative ). Quiz Organiser, Rotarian Richard Attenborough, thanked all the teams for their wonderful enthusiasm and commitment, with the parents and staff who came along to support, and the Co-op Community Fund which supported the event, now in its fifth year.
